Baitul Maal

Baitul Maal at Rahmah Foundation is a trusted and transparent system for collecting and managing Islamic charity in accordance with Shariah. Every contribution, including Zakat, Sadaqah, Fidya, and Fitrana, is treated as an Amanah (sacred trust) and handled with care and responsibility.

These funds are distributed through verified programs in food, healthcare, education, and welfare support. This ensures that donors fulfill their religious obligations while help reaches deserving individuals and families with dignity, fairness, and compassion.

Our Work

Rahmah Foundation’s Baitul Maal operates with the core values of Amanah (Trust), Adl (Justice), and Rahmah (Mercy).

We receive and distribute donations under distinct Islamic categories, maintaining full separation and accountability between each fund type. This ensures every rupee is used exactly as intended by Shariah — nothing more, nothing less.

The Baitul Maal funds multiple humanitarian programs, including:

  • Feeding the poor and supporting widows and orphans
  • Providing healthcare assistance and education
  • Offering financial aid to verified families in crisis

Each fund type has its own specific rules and eligible beneficiaries, as outlined below.

Program Details & Sponsorship Options

Zakat (Obligatory Charity)

What it is:
Zakat is a mandatory form of charity and one of Islam’s five pillars, due upon wealth that meets the Nisab threshold and has been held for one lunar year. It purifies wealth and uplifts the poor and needy.

Who it helps:
Your Zakat supports eligible recipients such as the poor (fuqara), the needy (masakin), widows, orphans, patients, and debt-ridden families — strictly within the eight categories mentioned in the Qur’an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:60).

Use of Funds:

  • Direct financial help to deserving families
  • Medical and educational assistance for Zakat-eligible individuals
  • Monthly ration kits and food support for the poor

Donation Options:

  • Pay Zakat for one person: ₹XXXX
  • Sponsor a family’s Zakat assistance: ₹XXXXX
  • Contribute to the general Zakat fund for verified beneficiaries

Note:
Zakat funds are used exclusively for Zakat-eligible recipients and are never applied to infrastructure, mosque construction, or administrative expenses.

Sadaqah (Voluntary Charity)

What it is:
Sadaqah is voluntary charity given at any time for the sake of Allah ﷻ. It may be financial or through acts of kindness. It is not limited by amount or condition — and it brings continuous reward (Sadaqah Jariyah) when it benefits others long-term.

Who it helps:
Anyone in need — regardless of Zakat eligibility. This includes widows, daily wage laborers, students, and families facing hardship.

Use of Funds:

  • Funding community projects like education, food drives, and healthcare
  • Supporting foundation operations that serve the poor
  • Providing emergency relief and social welfare

Donation Options:

  • Give one-time Sadaqah: ₹XXXX
  • Become a monthly donor: ₹XXXX per month
  • Contribute to general welfare and relief programs

Note:
Sadaqah cannot be used for mosque construction or non-welfare structures. It is purely for helping people and causes that bring benefit to the community.

Fidya (Compensation for Missed Fasts)

What it is:
Fidya is given by those unable to fast during Ramadan due to chronic illness, old age, or valid reason. It compensates by feeding a poor person for each missed fast.

Who it helps:
The poor and needy who cannot afford daily meals.

Use of Funds:

  • Preparing and distributing food to the poor
  • Supplying ration kits equivalent to daily meals

Donation Options:

  • Fidya for one missed fast: ₹XXX
  • Fidya for one full month (30 fasts): ₹XXXX
  • Annual Fidya contribution for multiple beneficiaries: ₹XXXXX

Note:
Fidya must directly feed the poor — Rahmah Foundation uses it strictly for meal and ration distributions.

Fitrana / Zakat al-Fitr (Charity before Eid)

What it is:
Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr) is a charity due from every Muslim at the end of Ramadan before Eid prayer. It purifies the fast and allows the needy to celebrate Eid with dignity.

Who it helps:
Low-income families, widows, orphans, and individuals struggling to afford Eid meals and clothing.

Use of Funds:

  • Providing food essentials and Eid meals
  • Supporting families with small festive allowances

Donation Options:

  • Fitrana per person: ₹XXX
  • Sponsor one family’s Eid Fitrana: ₹XXXX
  • Contribute to Eid-meal distribution fund: ₹XXXXX

Note:
Fitrana must be distributed before Eid al-Fitr prayer. All collections are managed and distributed within the prescribed time.

Transparency & Impact

Our Baitul Maal operates with strict transparency, maintaining separate records for Zakat, Fidya, Fitrana, and Sadaqah. All distributions are made only after proper verification, ensuring Shariah compliance and responsible use of funds.

Rahmah Foundation carefully tracks and manages every donation to ensure it reaches verified families, students, and patients. With your support, these funds continue to create meaningful impact across food relief, healthcare, and education programs.
